Minister announces SOE board appointments

State Owned Enterprises Minister Tony Ryall has reappointed the Chair, Chris Moller, and two directors, Mary Devine and Anake Goodall to the Board of Meridian Energy.

Mr Ryall has also reappointed three directors at Genesis Power; Deputy Chair Joanna Perry, Rukumoana Schaafhausen and John Dell.

At Quotable Value Ltd, one new director, Stephen Panckhurst, has been appointed to the Board and one existing director, Ian Holland, has been reappointed for a further term.

MERIDIAN

Chris Moller, of Wellington, is a company director who was appointed to the Meridian Board on 1 May 2009, and Chair in January 2011. He has had broad executive experience, particularly in the dairy industry, and is currently a chair or director on a number of boards. In his previous role as CEO of the New Zealand Rugby Union, Mr Moller jointly led New Zealand’s successful bid to host the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

Anake Goodall, of Christchurch, is a director and consultant who was previously the Chief Executive Officer of Te Runanga o Ngāi Tahu.

Mary Devine is Managing Director of J Ballantyne and Company in Christchurch. She was previously Managing Director of Max Fashions and Chief Executive Officer of parent company EziBuy Ltd.

GENESIS

Joanna Perry, of Auckland, is on a number of boards including TradeMe Group, Partners Life and Sport and Recreation New Zealand She has been a member of the Financial Standards Review Board (Chair from 2004), the Australian Accounting Standards Board, and a member of the Securities Commission.

Rukumoana Schaafhausen is an Auckland-based lawyer. She has been a member of Te Kauhanganui/Te Arataura (Waikato/Tainui tribal parliament) since its inception in 1995, and is a lawyer specialising in commercial and governance work.

John Dell, of Auckland, is a company director. His experience is in executive finance and strategic management. He has held executive positions as Chief Financial Officer (Air New Zealand) and Chief Executive Officer (most recently Fletcher Challenge Forests). .

QUOTABLE VALUE

Stephen Panckhurst, of Auckland, is a financial advisor with previous executive and advisory roles in the banking, electricity and healthcare industries.

Ian Holland is a company director and investment expert from Auckland who, prior to returning to New Zealand in 2002, had a 17 year career in financial markets with Morgan Stanley and Bankers Trust. He is a director of Dairy Investment Fund Ltd and the Quotable Value subsidiary, Property IQ Ltd.
