A Beekeeper’s Story

A Beekeeper’s Story

When he was just a young lad, Bill Bennett built his first bee hive from scrap wood.

Thus a lifelong passion for producing the best quality Manuka honey had its beginnings.

From its humble beginnings, SummerGlow Apiaries has blossomed to over 1600 hives, setting the standards for Manuka Honey production.

Bill and Margaret Bennett have been beekeeping for over 36 years in the greater Waikato area.

Summerglow Apiaries specialises in the production of high activity UMF Manuka Honey.

Back in the early days of SummerGlow, Bill and Margaret used to make their own bee hives.

“I would wait until our kids were asleep, and then wire all the honey hives frames in our front lounge,” says Margaret.

Summerglow Apiaries has always been a family-orientated business.

“At one time or another, all of the kids have helped out with the bees”, says Margaret.

Bill and Margaret have long known the special qualities that Manuka Honey possesses and thesel these were vindicated when research came out supporting the many health benefits of Manuka Honey.

“The research confirmed what I already knew,” says Bill.

SummerGlow were the first honey retailer to make high activity Manuka Honey available to the public via the internet so that customers worldwide could benefit from its unique healing qualities.

A proud accomplishment for Bill and Margaret is was helping to establish industry-wide standards for Manuka Honey. The UMF Honey Association introduced a UMF quality trademark rating system, so consumers can know the level of quality and the authenticity of the Manuka Honey they were buying.

“Working with honest UMF standards has been great for us, we know that people are getting the right honey which is true to our label,” says Margaret.

For Bill and Margret the most rewarding part about their business, is hearing back from their numerous happy customers.

“It’s always great to hear some of the amazing results people have had with our Manuka Honey has done for these people,” says Margaret.

Summerglow Apiaries will continue to provide genuine and high quality UMF Manuka Honey, so people worldwide can benefit from its health-giving properties.
