Empowerment key to award winning leadership

Inspiring, passionate, entrepreneurial, fun, motivating. These are all words that are used by MedRecruit staff when asked to describe their Managing Director, Dr Sam Hazledine - so for them, it comes as no surprise he has recently been selected as a finalist in the Leadership category of the 2013 AUT Business School Excellence in Business Support Awards.

It seems Dr Hazledine is quickly becoming recognised as both a strong leader and business person with seven accolades being awarded to him over the past twelve months including the prestigious Ernst & Young, 2012 ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ award and being named in the ‘Deloitte Fast 50’ for the past four consecutive years.

“Yes, I’ve received a number of accolades over the past year, and while it’s incredibly humbling, it’s important to acknowledge that these belong to the wider MedRecruit team, as without them and the fantastic work that they do, MedRecruit simply wouldn’t have the positive impact on our clients that we do.” Said Dr Hazledine.

“It’s important I provide my staff with the resources they require, and empower them to achieve what they might consider unachievable – by doing this, the team accomplishes excellence in everything they do. This gives them a true sense of pride and accomplishment.” Said Dr Hazledine when asked about his leadership style.

“The Excellence in Business Support Awards are regarded highly among industry, providing organisations the chance to benchmark their performance alongside others in their field. As a Business School, it’s important for us to celebrate the businesses that contribute to the economic development of our region, so that together, we can continue to add value to the changing world of business.” Said Dean of AUT Business School, Dr Geoff Perry

The winners will be announced on 5 September at a black-tie gala dinner in Auckland with the AUT Business School Supreme Award being chosen from the category winners.

Dr Hazledine is the Managing Director of MedRecruit Ltd, a medical recruitment agency he established in 2006 specialising in working with doctors to place them in locum and permanent jobs so they can have a fulfilling career and a great lifestyle, as well as giving hospitals and clinics certainty in their staffing. Over the past seven years MedRecruit has transformed the medical industry to give doctors back their lifestyles, and in doing so has positively impacted the provision of healthcare throughout Australasia. Today, MedRecruit is the leading provider of doctors to 153 hospitals and clinics in Australia and 32 hospitals and clinics in New Zealand.
