Top sales consultant joins Harcourts

Top sales consultant joins Harcourts

Press Release: Harcourts

21 June 2013

Mushtaq Sheikh was taking a Unitec course in property law when his tutor pulled him aside to tell him he should consider a career in real estate.

That was eight years ago and today Mushtaq has proved himself to be a successful agent and one of the better known faces of real estate in south Auckland.

Mushtaq has recently joined Harcourts in Manukau after being the top performer for six years in a row at Barfoot & Thompson’s office at Otahuhu. He left the company as the number 28th ranked agent out of 1300.

At Harcourts he has plans to build a team of agents who can work with him to better serve his customers and get the best possible results for vendors in the south Auckland market.

Time demands have meant Mushtaq has had to limit his listings in recent years, but now he is looking forward to expansion with Harcourts Manukau.

Mushtaq attributes his success to his strong community connections.

Well known to the Fijian community, Mushtaq worked for the Ministry of Transport for 18 years, running the country’s vehicle testing stations prior to coming to New Zealand in 1990.

He made many friends and these connections have carried through to his life in New Zealand, with 90 per cent of his clients being referrals or repeat customers.

“I’m often in the right place at the right time. I do a lot of community work and have served as secretary for the Counties Manukau Ethnic Council, President of the Muslim Community and also find time to serve as a Justice of the Peace for New Zealand,” Mushtaq says.

Mushtaq has also completed his Diploma in Real Estate and has achieved his AREINZ status.

Garry Mason, Principal Officer and Manager of Harcourts Manukau, says they are absolutely delighted to have Mushtaq on board.

“It’s a real success to secure him and we hope Mushtaq will be the catalyst for other top sales consultants joining us,” Mr Mason says.

Hayden Duncan, Harcourts New Zealand Chief Executive Officer, says Mushtaq has incredible community connections, business acumen and drive.

“We look forward to working with Mushtaq and helping him achieve is business goals. I know he will be a great attribute to Harcourts.”
