NZ Sotheby’s International Realty - locals on Parnell team

June 24 2013

New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty recruits well-known locals to Parnell team

A stunning four-bedroom Remuera home, designed by renowned New Zealand architect Vlad Cacala, is to be sold at auction by leading luxury real estate company New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty.

The luxurious property, situated at 306 Victoria Avenue, Remuera, is being marketed for sale by Liza Clark and Sally Dodson who both joined the company last month and work together in the Parnell-based office.

Ms Clark has a unique affiliation to the Victoria Avenue property, known locally as ‘The Kay House’, as her father designed the property in the 1960s and has received extensive recognition for the home.

Influenced by the Bauhaus tutors who fled Germany in the mid-1930s, Cacala was well-known for creating some of Auckland’s best homes including the Mondrian House in St Heliers Road, the Foley House in Titirangi and the acclaimed ‘butterfly roofed’ house in Meadowbank.

Cacala’s signature style is still evident today in many homes around Auckland and especially the Eastern suburbs.

Growing up in Remuera with one of New Zealand’s most-acclaimed architects as a father, Liza has an unsurpassed knowledge of the Eastern Bays area and an unbridled enthusiasm for real estate.

“I suppose you could say that property is in my blood. From an early age I appreciated the beauty of properties and throughout my childhood and subsequently in my own business ventures, I’ve developed a real passion and knowledge of the industry,” she said.

“I’ve personally bought and sold numerous properties in Remuera and have an in-depth knowledge of the sales process, which is obviously hugely important.

“I’m extremely proud to be a part of the team and working with Sally and Ross Hawkins to provide exceptional service to our clients.”

Working with childhood friend Sally Dodson, who has spent her life in the Eastern suburbs, the dynamic duo bring a “fresh and unique” take on buying or selling property in the area.

Sally has extensive experience in fashion and design and a keen eye for what makes a good home and together the pair have “exceptional” on-the ground knowledge of the area.

“There aren’t many homes or streets in Remuera we don’t know about,” Ms Dodson said.

“Liza and I have a very good eye for making sure each property we market is presented to the highest standards, dressed properly and shown in the best possible light. We work tirelessly to ensure every home is marketed in the right way to the right target market.

“With our extensive architectural knowledge and personal experience of renovating properties, we can talk about the future possibilities of each property with potential buyers.”

Sally is also well-known in the Auckland region, in part due to her husband -- former America’s Cup sailor Richard Dodson, who recently helped raise over $320,000 for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

The event was widely-publicised as Russell Coutts and Grant Dalton, CEO’s of current champions Oracle Team USA and the challenger Emirates Team New Zealand, sparred at a black-tie fundraiser in Auckland.

The event raised funds for Dodson and his team mate David Barnes, now both affected by multiple sclerosis. They have teamed up with Andrew May, who lost limbs in a road traffic accident, to contest the three-person Paralympic Sonar keelboat class at the 2016 Games.

New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty General Manager Peter Newbold said Sally and Liza had “an unrivalled passion for property” and were an “exceptional addition” to the Eastern Suburbs office.

“It takes time to find the right team and we’ve been carefully selecting the right people to work within our Parnell office. Liza and Sally are a formidable team with a unique specialist knowledge of the area,” Mr Newbold said.

“They’re both passionate about property and have such great attention to detail and a desire to help people find their dream property. We’re lucky to have such exceptional experience within the company.”

The ‘Kay House’ is being marketed as a timeless family home that has been tastefully-restored to its former Bauhaus beginnings. With four bedrooms, three bathrooms and plenty of outdoor and indoor living space, the north-facing property is perfect for all seasons and includes an outdoor pool and concept plans to expand the property if desired.

The Victoria Avenue property will be auctioned by New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty on July 10 2013 onsite at 1pm. For more details and open home times visit the website www.nzsothebysrealty.com , property reference NZE10228.
