NZ Company performs at the Tour de France 2013

Alongside Jack Bauer (Team Garmin Sharp) and Greg Henderson (Team Lotto Belisol) a New Zealand company is making It's presence felt with the Spanish Team Eskatel Eskadei at the 2013 Tour De France.

Teknicool Ltd has designed and developed the first ever thermally insulated bottle, Floe bottle ( www.floebottle.com ) that has the ability to dispense ice slushy to athletes to cool body temperatures and enhance performance in hot conditions.

Given that over the three weeks of the tour each rider will secrete enough sweat to flush a toilet 39 times and burn 123.900 calories – the equivalent of 250 Big Macs or 620 doughnuts, nutrition and hydration in this punishing event are critical.

This where the Floe bottle plays a crucial role. The Floe bottle was designed on the back of research undertaken by Dr Paul Laursen, Lead Physiologist for High Performance Sport New Zealand which demonstrated that the ingestion of ice slushy improved athletes performance by up to 20% in hot and humid conditions. The patented spout and silicone insulated bottle is a breakthrough in terms of delivering high-cooling slushy while training and competing.
