Hukafalls Jet scoops top business award

Taupō , 29 July, 2013 – Hukafalls Jet has scooped the local Taupo business awards winning 'Best Tourism Business'.

Hukafalls Jet has been operating on the Waikato River since 1990 and is a founding adventure tourism operator in the Taupo region.  It's the only jet boat operator that takes riders right up to the base of the thundering Huka Falls, New Zealand's most visited natural attraction.

The proud Hukafalls Jet team accepted the award on Friday at the BNZ Great Lake Taupo Business Awards 2013. More than 350 people gathered to celebrate the efforts of successful businesses who demonstrated a culture of growth and innovation.

Hukafalls Jet beat three other finalists to scoop the award and is thrilled with the achievement.  "These awards allow us to take a really good look at our business, from the inside out and strive for constant improvement in our customer experience," says Simon Thew, Business Manager.  "This is a real testament to the awesome team we have working with us at the moment and is a great reward for their efforts."

As the tourism marketing and destination management agency for the Great Lake Taupo region, Destination Great Lake Taupo (DGLT) sponsored the Best Tourism Business award.

DGLT's Karen Rainbow says, "Tourism is all about making people feel welcome as this is at the very heart of a great experience.   It’s also vital to consistently provide high quality delivery in areas like food, wine, coffee, entertainment and customer service.  Exceeding expectations in the tourism sector is a sure way to build long term business success."
