Training company helping healthcare job seekers

Amida Training is expanding its services to help meet the demand in the labour market through the Ministry of Social Development, Training For Work services. Owned by Access Homehealth, Amida is to provide employment focused training courses to help people acquire the skills they need to achieve employment in the non-regulated healthcare sector in the Wellington and Nelson regions, and Opotiki. The training is aimed at those who have no current qualifications, but have an interest in working within the health, disability and aged care sector and meet the needs of employers within this market.

According to Amida’s Operations Manager, Nicky Scott, the ageing ‘tsunami’, early hospital discharge and funding restrictions on rest home entry have contributed to an increased demand for carers, and the need for a workforce with higher skills and knowledge in the home healthcare sector.

“Minimum training levels have now been mandated within health contracts. And because we provide training to all Access staff, we are in a unique position to understand the strategic direction of the homecare and residential care market and needs of employers in this sector.”

Access Homehealth is one of New Zealand’s largest home healthcare providers.
