Press release, 15 August 2013, Canterbury Software Cluster, Christchurch, New Zealand: The business-technology event not to be missed — the annual Canterbury Software Summit — returns again this year at the Addington Events Centre in Christchurch on Thursday 3 October. Registrations are now open for this half-day conferencing and networking phenomenon which drew over 500 registrations in 2012 and received outstanding feedback.

Continuing a popular format the Canterbury Software Summit will bring together national and international “Software Heroes” in the industry.

Global high-flier Claudia Batten, founder of both Massive Inc and Victors & Spoils, will deliver this year’s opening keynote address. And all conference sessions are filling up quickly, with speakers already confirmed from Diversity.Net, Kiwi Landing Pad, MediaSense, Mindscape, Klickex, AdScale, SmudgeApps, and more.

New this year is the addition of a fourth conference track— Gaming/Animation —with input from Runaway Play, Grinding Gear Games, Trigger Happy, and Digital Confectioners.

“We are really excited about the new track,” says Ben Reid, Chair of the Canterbury Software Cluster Committee, which organises the Summit. “We’ve been able to respond again to demand from the technology community. Last year we added Agile for more specialised content relating to best practices for productivity when developing. And of course we have the Business and Technology tracks, which are hugely popular, so the range of speakers in 2013 is greater than ever.”

The Canterbury Software Summit 2013 is made possible through the generous contributions of our sponsors: SLI Systems, Assurity, Blackbay, Adscale, Trineo, CDC and NZTE. The event opens on Thursday 3 October at 11:45am, with the main conference programme running all afternoon from 12:15pm to 6:00pm. The networking event follows from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

“This is a must attend event for networking and developing new business,” says Reid. “This year we have seen two large Canterbury software firms list successfully on the stock market – SLI Systems and Wynyard Group. These businesses are significant exporting contributors to the New Zealand economy and now we need to inspire and support the next generation of Canterbury software firms to succeed. The Summit generates a real boost for the industry, as it’s a chance for people to exchange ideas, contact details, and create new partnerships. The event puts entrepreneurs, investors, executives, developers, testers and managers all in a room together and creates lasting networking benefits to the local industry.”

Registration is free for Canterbury Software Cluster members and $95 plus GST for non-members. Non-members can save $10 by becoming an individual member for just $85 plus GST. Cluster membership provides free access to all monthly networking events, as well as one free registration for the Summit.

A light lunch, refreshments, drinks and canapés are included with registration, and Wi-Fi will be available. To register visit softwaresummit.eventbrite.co.nz. The Twitter hashtag for both the Summit and the Canterbury Software cluster is #CSCluster.

This year, the venue’s exhibition area is open for all and the organisers are welcoming enquiries from industry organisations and suppliers to provide varied and engaging displays for this limited space.
