Martyn Dunne welcomed as new MPI Director-General

Federated Farmers is pleased to welcome Martyn Dunne CNZM as the new Director-General of the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI).

“Martyn Dunne brings a completely new dimension to the leadership of the MPI,” says Dr William Rolleston, Federated Farmers Vice-President.

“Mr Dunne brings a huge wealth of experience being New Zealand’s current High Commissioner in Canberra, the immediate past Comptroller of Customs and Chief Executive of the New Zealand Customs Service and before that, a Major-General in the New Zealand Army.

“We note Ministers Guy and Kaye express desire for a ‘fresh start’ for the Ministry. This is something Mr Dunne brings with his leadership credentials, especially in field of trade and trade access.

“Federated Farmers is keen to meet with Mr Dunne at the earliest opportunity and to facilitate his introduction to the New Zealand farm system behind the farm gate.

“Can we also extend our sincerest appreciation to Scott Gallacher. In what has been a full-on period for the Acting Director-General he has been wonderful to work with.

“We are certain Mr Gallacher will be a fine asset to assist Mr Dunne in the engine room of the New Zealand economy,” Dr Rolleston concluded.
