Kilmarnock Enterprises congratulates Canterbury Business Award.

Kilmarnock Enterprises would like to congratulate St John for winning the Champion Canterbury Business Award in the medium/large charity category at last night’s ceremony. Kilmarnock Enterprises were amongst the finalists.

This is the first year that Kilmarnock Enterprises has entered the awards and they were thrilled to be on the short list of finalists that included St John and Aviva.

“While we weren’t winners on the night, our success within the business sector gives our employees a huge sense of pride. Being amongst the finalists is further recognition of their efforts and we are delighted,” says Kilmarnock Enterprises chief executive officer Michelle Sharp.

Kilmarnock Enterprises is a Christchurch based charity that provides employment to individuals with intellectual disabilities by fulfilling business contracts for local and national organisations. Kilmarnock employs over 80 staff and despite some challenges following the Canterbury earthquakes, have emerged stronger with alternate revenue streams and an optimistic outlook.

“Everything we do at Kilmarnock is ultimately for the benefit of our employees. In order to be able to provide them a stable place of employment, we have to ensure we are commercially sustainable,” says Ms Sharp.

Christchurch City Centre MP Nicky Wagner commended Kilmarnock for being finalists in this award.

“They have a great management team absolutely focused on creating a productive, supportive and meaningful environment for their employees. They in turn, take pride in their work and in the fact that they are making a real contribution to life in our city” says Christchurch Central MP Nicky Wagner.

Kilmarnock provide services to a range of customers from Christchurch based one-man-bands to large corpororate entities. Their customers understand that by contracting their services to Kilmarnock, they are not only guaranteeing quality of service, they are also supporting a very worthy charity.
