Simpson Grierson Awards Environmental Law prize
Mason Gilles is the winner of the Simpson Grierson Environmental Law Prize for 2013.
The award recognises the student with the best overall mark in the University of Waikato's environmental law paper.
Mason says of winning the prize: "I am delighted to have been awarded such a prestigious prize, and it is a wonderful way to end my time at law school. It is great to have the support of a firm like Simpson Grierson in an area which is so important to both Waikato University and the Waikato region. "
Mason was presented with a cheque for $1,000 at a function at the firm's Auckland office on Thursday 10 October. Gerald Lanning, partner in Simpson Grierson's environment group, handed over the cheque. He says: "The future of the legal profession lies in part with outstanding students like Mason and we are delighted to be able to contribute to the development of such talented people."
Simpson Grierson has been sponsoring the University of Waikato's Environmental Law Prize since 1992.
