Flight Centre New Zealand Foundation Takes Off

Flight Centre New Zealand Limited is ecstatic to announce the launch of its own charitable trust, the Flight Centre New Zealand (NZ) Foundation. With a vision of becoming one of the leading corporate-based foundations in New Zealand, Flight Centre is committed to giving back to local communities across the country, via the Flight Centre NZ Foundation.

Flight Centre New Zealand’s managing director, Mike Friend, says that this is the perfect way for Flight Centre and its employees to give back locally and make a difference.

“This is an excellent opportunity for many charitable organisations to apply for funding from the Flight Centre NZ Foundation. From local sports groups to community events and even national fundraisers, the options are endless.

“We have supported many charities over the years, including pledging NZ$1 million to the Christchurch earthquake in 2011. The Foundation is a great way to be able to consolidate all of this and really maximise our charitable reach across the country.”

The Flight Centre NZ Foundation will be operating with quarterly ‘funding rounds’ and invites charities, organisations or individuals seeking support to apply via the Flight Centre website, with the current funding round open until 30 November 2013.

Flight Centre New Zealand’s general manager of retail, Sue Matson, is thrilled about the introduction of the Foundation and what it means for employees across the country.

“With almost 1,000 employees in 160 stores and businesses around New Zealand, we have the ability to provide both financial support and volunteer hours through staff initiatives. Our employees are looking forward to giving back to their local areas through the work of the Flight Centre NZ Foundation,” Ms Matson said.

The Flight Centre NZ Foundation’s following funding rounds for the 2013-2014 financial year will close on 28 February 2014 and 31 May 2014.
