Xero CEO Drury makes Hawke’s Bay hum
Local boy-turned technology whizz Rod Drury, the CEO of share market accounting software giant Xero, today gave a sell-out Hawke’s Bay business audience an insight into what makes his business tick and what is needed to make Hawke’s Bay progress.
Mr Drury was hosted by Business Central, in conjunction with ExportNZ and Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce.
He spoke about Xero’s just-announced $180 million cash injection by United States investors, the company’s journey to success in employing 600 people in four countries, its huge success on the share market, and his take on how important lifestyle is to enable creativity and innovation.
He also explained how he is able to live locally and work globally, how Xero grew its business model from catering to a domestic market to its plan for world domination and what they are doing to succeed in the American market, and the collaborations and the importance of relationships. He gave examples of partnerships that are working successfully.
Business Central Chief Executive Raewyn Bleakley said Mr Drury’s vision for making Hawke’s Bay “hum” and the importance of investment in the regions was particularly well received by the 120-strong audience.
