EFTPOS New Zealand launches the latest EVOLUTION in payments

EFTPOS New Zealand launches the latest EVOLUTION in payments

Wellington, 16 October, 2013 - EFTPOS New Zealand announced today the release of the latest VeriFone Evolution terminal range in New Zealand.

These new payment devices see technology that we’ve come to rely on with our smartphones, such as high resolution colour touch screens. This technology will ensure merchants can provide a significantly enhanced customer payment experience through interactive and simple to use terminal screens.

In ensuring customer experience is at the highest standards, these terminals are fast – processing card transactions faster than we’ve ever seen in New Zealand before. These powerful devices ensure that the process of having to pay for goods is significantly reduced in time, creating less queues, and enabling customers to get on with daily lives quicker. Coupled with the significantly larger in-built memory these terminals are capable of running multiple applications and complex transactions.

These devices are future-proofed and are fully equipped with NFC and contactless technology. Most New Zealanders are familiar now with how to ‘tap and go’; this technology is becoming increasingly popular with merchants, and will become the norm in the not too distant future. EFTPOS New Zealand has been providing contactless enabled terminals for some time now, however, taking the payments experience to the next level, is the ‘NFC’ capabilities on these VeriFone Evolution terminals. This built-in technology called ‘NFC’ or ‘Near Field Communication’ allows these terminals to seamlessly interface with mobile wallets, merchant app’s and loyalty programmes via a customers’ smartphone. “NFC allows customers to simply tap their phone over these terminals rather than having to use an eftpos or credit card. There is a significant global shift towards mobile payments and with the release of this terminal range, we’re ensuring that New Zealand is right up there with the latest in technology,” said Peter McLeod, General Manager of EFTPOS New Zealand.

The Evolution range includes the VX 520 Colour, VX 680 Wireless and the VX 820 DUET. All terminals are certified with the latest security standards (PCI PTS 3.X certification). These terminals are currently available on the EFTPOS New Zealand network, and will also be available on the Paymark network in the coming months.
