Asteron Life Wins Life Insurance Company of the Year Award

A market leading approach to customer service and innovation helped Asteron Life take away the premier title of Life Insurance Company of the Year last night.

Announced at Sky City by the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, the award recognises the life insurance company in New Zealand that has most demonstrated innovation and outstanding service to its customers and advisers.

Asteron Life NZ managing director David Carter says the company has undertaken a complete rebrand making the customer central to all new innovations.  “The product, service and communication changes made as a result of this rebrand were extensive.  However, the value of insurance for customers is really when they need to claim.

“Our customers and advisers regularly tell us that our empathy, flexibility and genuine desire to do what’s right when people need to claim, makes a huge difference to them at a time they need us most.  We have an emphasis on providing support and rehabilitation, and last year we paid 98% of claims.”

Carter says the award is a reflection of the company’s dedication to the customer. “Our staff, board and management should be extremely proud of what we have achieved in receiving this award.” Carter also acknowledges the key role that independent advisers play in developing a strong life insurance proposition for customers.

“We spoke with a number of independent advisers to get their insight. A good adviser plays a very important role in getting the right insurance set up for their customer, so they have a unique perspective”.  Carter says that Asteron Life recently scored the highest satisfaction score in New Zealand with advisers, in an independent survey carried out by Beaton. Beaton is an international research agency.

Asteron Life was also a finalist in the Claims Provider of the Year category.
