Fair Play on Fees ANZ/National Registration Date Finalised

Fair Play on Fees ANZ/National Registration Date Finalised

The High Court has ruled ANZ/National Bank customers must register by 13 December to take part in the Fair Play on Fees bank class action, following an application by the campaign’s lawyers to have the date extended.

Lawyers representing the Fair Play on Fees campaign last week applied to have the application date extended to 1 March 2014, to give ANZ/National Bank customers more time to sign up. That application was denied by Justice Peters, who confirmed 13 December as the final deadline for ANZ/National Bank customers to sign up to the campaign.

Fair Play on Fees lawyer Andrew Hooker said if there was any uncertainty of the date which ANZ/National Bank customers could join the campaign in the past that was no longer the case.

“ANZ/National customers must register by this date if they want to join the legal action seeking to recoup their default fees paid to banks over the past six years. No further applications to extend this date will be sought.”

Hooker says any aggrieved customers who had overbearing default fees must register on the website www.fairplayonfees.co.nz

Lawyers acting on behalf of the Fair Play on Fees campaign will argue in court against the unfairly high unarranged overdraft fees, account dishonour fees and credit card late payment and over limit fees charged by banks.

Announcements about cases against other major banks will be made over the next few months.
