Applications have opened for Grimshaw Sargeson Fellowship

Applications have opened for the 2014 Grimshaw Sargeson Fellowship.

Reflecting the name of its new sponsor Grimshaw & Co, and in partnership with the Frank Sargeson Trust, the Grimshaw Sargeson Fellowship offers published New Zealand writers tenure at the Sargeson Centre in Auckland along with an annual $20,000 stipend.

“Grimshaw & Co are privileged to partner with the Frank Sargeson Trust and support the Sargeson Fellowship,” says Paul Grimshaw, Partner, Grimshaw & Co.

“The Grimshaw Sargeson Fellowship is one of New Zealand’s leading national literary awards and has a distinguished history of previous fellows. We are very proud to support New Zealand writers through the fellowship by offering them the time, personal space and financial support they need to develop their craft and in turn contribute to New Zealand’s rich literary culture.”

Chair of the Sargeson Trust, Elizabeth Aitken Rose, welcomed the new sponsorship from Grimshaw & Co.

“The Sargeson Fellowship has been an important feature in New Zealand literary life for more than 25 years and has recognised and assisted many of our leading writers,” says Aitken Rose.

“The trust deeply appreciates the long relationship we have had with our former sponsors Buddle Findlay and we are excited about our new partnership with the eminent legal firm Grimshaw & Co. Sponsorship is hard won in the current economic climate so it is extremely heartening that the importance of Frank Sargeson's legacy to New Zealand writers continues to be acknowledged.”
