“Green Company of the Year”

Yealands Estate has been selected as the “Green Company of the Year” by the UK’s leading drinks publisher, Drinks Business.

The Green Awards are the world’s largest programme in the drinks trade raising awareness of green issues and recognising those leading the way in sustainability and environmental practice.

Founder of Yealands Family Wines, Peter Yealands, says this global recognition is another welcome endorsement of their philosophy, culture and focus on continual environmental improvement.

“We set out with a vision of best practice from the vine to the bottle. Since inception, our mission has been to become the world-leader in sustainable wine production. This award in conjunction with our win at the International Green Awards (2012) demonstrates that we’re well on the way to achieving that goal.”

The Green Company of the Year category was open to all drinks producers globally and the judging criteria was based on demonstrating commitment to the environment in changing and improving business practices to better its carbon footprint.

“We continually strive to improve our sustainable practices. For us sustainability is about using resources in a smarter way, which guarantees future supply and our profitability. We’re conscious that our commitment needs to be tangible; being green is an integral part of who we are, and for us it is essential to producing world-class wines.”

The winners were announced last night at the Drinks Business Green Awards ceremony at The Club at The Ivy, London.
