Asia Pacific Superyachts NZ expanding with new MD

Asia Pacific Superyachts New Zealand expanding with new managing director

The successful New Zealand superyacht agent, voted one of the top in the world, has taken on a new partner and managing director to allow the business to expand.

Auckland’s globally-recognised superyacht agent, Asia Pacific Superyachts New Zealand, is expanding. With demand for services increasing, the time is right for the company to take on more manpower. That manpower comes in the form of Duthie Lidgard; an experienced industry professional who’s made a career out of providing superyachts with the highest possible service.

A lifelong sailor, Lidgard is also a qualified boatbuilder who spent ten years working in the superyacht industry as a deckhand, engineer and Master 3000gt-certified captain. Having worked as an owner’s representative on new builds in Europe and Australia, Lidgard is well-versed in the needs of owner, captain, guest and crew.

“With the growth of the business and the market in New Zealand, and to enable us to give the service that we want to continue to give, our new team member needs the ability to deliver seamless support to crew to provide the best possible owner trips. It’s what Janice and I have worked so hard to provide, and it’s been key to building the business,” says Jeanette Tobin, Asia Pacific Superyachts New Zealand owner.

“Duthie does this and brings a different dimension into the business with his experience as a captain as well as an owner representative. Those roles give him an in-depth understanding of the technical side of superyacht operations and we’re very excited to have him join our team.”

Asia Pacific Superyachts New Zealand has established a solid reputation for providing a high level of service, helping crew deliver an exceptional owner experience. Jeanette Tobin and Janice Lynch have been at the forefront of helping New Zealand grow its reputation as a destination for both cruising and refit.

“I’m excited to be buying into a company with a high reputation and successful track record within the marine industry. Working with Jeanette and Janice will allow the continued development of fresh ideas and new ventures which will benefit all our clients, not just in New Zealand but around the world.”

With Lidgard onboard to help the team provide superyachts with the fastest possible response time and expert operational knowledge, Tobin will have more time to grow the market with both owners and charter boats.

Lidgard is also looking forward to formalising the work he already does to increase the reach of the New Zealand superyacht industry.

“Over the years, I have been promoting everything New Zealand to my clients and friends, I remain dedicated to promoting New Zealand as a superyacht destination with the immediate aim of growing the cruising and charter market all whilst offering superior personal service to vessels and their crew during the stay covering all works and refits.”

“I love the challenge of developing new relationships and offering first class professional service in this ever-growing, specialised industry.”

With Lynch’s attention to detail and legendary ability secure the clearance of urgent freight, find parts or products and get them to the boat, Tobin’s in-depth knowledge of regional cruising and Lidgard’s understanding of the operational requirements of superyachts, this new partnership will see Asia Pacific Superyachts New Zealand continue to set the standard for local agents.
