Former Medicines NZ General Manager joins Navigator

Health innovator and former Medicines NZ General Manager joins Navigator


Navigator Limited chairman Shaun Coffey announced today that Mr Kevin Sheehy had been appointed Associate Partner effective immediately.

The Board and the Partners are very pleased that Kevin has chosen to join our consultancy business and be part of the Navigator kaupapa," said Mr Coffey.

Mr Sheehy has broad expertise in health delivery and policy, bringing the two together to develop and implement meaningful strategic initiatives.

He will be Navigator's Health Lead and brings a strong focus on improving patient outcomes to any project aimed at bringing new technology to the market or enhancing health care delivery.

Mr Sheehy worked in GP practice and in private and public health systems in Cape Town, South Africa. He moved to Wellington from South Africa in 2008 where he has worked for medicines regulator, Medsafe, and for Medicines New Zealand as its General Manager. In the latter role, he was heavily involved on behalf of the pharmaceutical industry in free trade and inter-country negotiations.

Mr Sheehy has robust expertise in the path to market for health technologies from definition of clinical need; regulatory requirements; intellectual property; clinical research; health economics and to market access disciplines.

"We are fortunate to have someone of Kevin's calibre join our team," said Nick Alexander, Navigator Managing Partner.

"Kevin understands the health system from a number of angles. He has significant experience in engaging the funding system and can successfully navigate the dynamics involved in developing a health innovation for our clients and ensuring that it stands the best chance of getting to the patient who needs it," said Mr Alexander.
