Polycom Appoints Paul Newell as VP, Australia and NZ

Newell counts six years’ experience at Polycom holding a number of strategic sales and systems engineering leadership roles

AUCKLAND, New Zealand – 21 October, 2014: Polycom, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCM) today announced that Paul Newell has been appointed Vice President, Australia and New Zealand, responsible for all operational aspects of business in the region.

Newell’s appointment is a strategic move to spearhead the ANZ business, one of Polycom’s largest markets in Asia Pacific. With substantial local and international experience, Newell is also widely recognised as an industry heavyweight in the channel and partner community, holding considerable knowledge and experience of the Polycom business and market landscape. He will work closely with recently-appointed President, Polycom Asia Pacific, Geoff Thomas to drive revenue growth and operational excellence in ANZ.

A longstanding Polycom leader, Newell was appointed interim President for Polycom Asia Pacific between February and June 2014. He joined Polycom in 2008 and has held a number of key positions within the company, most recently as Vice President, Systems Engineering & Service Sales, Asia Pacific. In this role, he was responsible for driving the region’s strategic initiatives, partner relations to include UC Alliances, Service Providers and Systems Integrators, and business operations.

With nearly twenty years of technology experience, Newell was previously Director of Sales at JDSU Asia-Pacific, a leading provider of communications test, measurement solutions and optical products for the IT industry. During his tenure, Newell was responsible for the formulation, coordination and implementation of sales, marketing, and operational programmes across the region.

“I have engaged with the ANZ market for over 12 years now in various roles, and wanted to have more of a direct impact,” said Newell. “This is one of the most exciting markets in the world that is constantly at the forefront of technology adoption.
