Britz helps New Zealand 9 break world record

Britz are delighted to be supporting Ben Southall, Luke Edwards and Patrick Kinsella to break a world record by running the equivalent of 9 and a half marathons and 145kms of kayaking in 9 days.

For the first time ever, on November 8, 2014 the trio will tackle the Department of Conservations 9 great walks in 9 days.

The walks, ranging from 38kms to 78kms in length are all intended to be multi-day experiences. One of the nine is set to challenge the boys in a different way, it’s a 145km kayaking route. To train for their adventure, Ben, Luke and Patrick have been preparing with gruelling training sessions over the past six months.

Documenting their journey on their Facebook page and website (www.theglobaladventurers.com) Britz will be following and supporting the team closely, sharing their regular updates across social media channels and checking in with them while out on the road where possible.

Proud to sponsor this epic journey, they will have a comfortable campervan to rest their tired bodies in each night. Having a campervan to go back to each night will not only help them to prepare for the next day, but will also provide them with ‘transport with tea breaks’ between each walk.

“Britz is all about adventure so we’re very excited by this opportunity to work with the New Zealand 9 team and help them to achieve this world record. We have faith in the team’s ability to achieve their ambitious goal and wish them all the best for this amazing event” says Kate Meldrum General Manager, Marketing for Britz.

Tourism New Zealand and the Department of Conservation are also sponsoring this great event.

Picking up their campers in Queenstown on November 7th, the team will have a few days to get acquainted with them and provide them with enough time to stock up on supplies before heading out on the road.

Adventurer, Ben Southall claims “This is the most physically challenging expedition I have ever planned, by far. There is no current record for this challenge – because no one has been daft enough to attempt it before – so I’m excited by the adventure that lays in wait for us.”

The team's ambitious itinerary will take them from South to North. They'll kick off with the Rakiura Track (32km) on remote Stewart Island, before running the Routeburn (32km), Milford (53.5km), Kepler (60km), Heaphy (78.4) and Abel Tasman (55.2km) tracks on the South Island, and then doing the Whanhanui River Journey (145km), Tongariro Northern Circuit (43km), and Lake Waikaremoana (46km) on the North Island.
