Quest on Ward takes top spot at Quest annual awards

The franchise director of Quest on Ward in Hamilton has been named South Pacific Quest Franchise of the Year at the company’s annual awards recently.

The awards recognise and celebrate the franchise directors who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the Quest brand, serviced apartment industry and guest service. Finalists and the winner are chosen from more than 34 properties across New Zealand and Fiji.

Quest on Ward Franchise Director, Robert Hunter, took over the Hamilton property with his wife Chern in 2012, and says he is extremely honoured to win the award.

“Being nominated was a fantastic thing and we really didn’t expect to win,” he says. “We know all of our regular customers, and we have great working relationships with our suppliers and Quest head office. Quest has developed a very successful framework and support services for franchisees which we follow. This has helped us grow our business each year.”

Robert and Chern have over 20 years’ experience working in the hotel industry in New Zealand, Indonesia and Malaysia, and were looking for a new opportunity.

“Quest has a very strong corporate image which is what attracted us to the business,” says Robert. “The locations of Quest properties are also very good, and the customers are mainly corporate business travellers which also appealed. Properties generally average about 40 rooms, which means Quest has a more personal feel than the larger hotels in any city.”
