3D Printing – Wellington Innovation

Gordon Dykes, one of New Zealand’s leading Fused Filament Fabrication 3D printer experts recently exhibited at the highly successful 3D printing lecture series at Hutt City Libraries.

This was an opportunity for Mr Dykes to display fre3formD’s most recent design innovations one of them being a new hot end.

A 3D printer is only as good as the hot end from which the plastic is extruded. Previous designs relied on hot ends sourced from overseas – the quality and availability was inconsistent.

Currently these new hot ends are only available on fre3formD printers with older versions being upgraded for free. It is hoped with streamlining of the production process these will be available to the general public in the not too distant future.

A considerable amount of time has been invested in R&D which has enabled Mr Dykes to develop a high quality and reliable 3D printer in New Zealand.

If you would like to view the fre3formD Delta Printer Version 3, Mr Dykes is holding another of his popular presentations in late November 2014. There will be lots of opportunities to ask questions and view the printers in action. Tea, coffee and ‘3D’ biscuits will also be provided.
