Canterbury charities set to benefit from new home auction sale
Canterbury charities are set to benefit from the auction sale of a brand new four-bedroom home which has been built by the community-spirited Avonhead Rotary Club in the suburb of Aidanfield.
The highly-spec’d 263 square metre block and linear board residence on 864 square metres of flat land has been built to ‘show home’ standards – featuring quality kitchen appliances, designer fittings, three heat pumps, underfloor heating, triple garaging, and a security system.
The single-storey home in Josephine Crescent goes up for auction on November 26 through Bayleys Canterbury – with all profits going directly to Avonhead Rotary Charitable Trust.
The organisation funds a range of medical, community, educational, and philanthropic charities across the Canterbury region – ranging from women’s refuge and the multiple sclerosis society, through to the YMCA and Barnadoes.
Once interest-free loans taken out by Avonhead Rotary have been repaid, all excess funds generated from the sale will be distributed among many of the numerous Canterbury organisations which annually apply for funding from the trust.
Bayleys Canterbury director Bill Whalan said the property was being sold with a 10-year new home guarantee.
He said that while some potential buyers may be attracted to the property because of its philanthropic nature, most potential buyers would have it on their wish-list because of its neighbourhood location, quality build from long-last materials, and amenities.
“In essence, it is a show home – it’s like Christchurch’s very own version of the Block NZ,” Mr Whalan said.
Open homes are being held at the property by Bayleys Canterbury salespeople Daryl and Barbara Johnston on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
