More key tenants announced for The Landing development Queenstown

Queenstown’s retail offering just got even better with the announcement four new businesses will open in April next year as part of stage two at The Landing development in Frankton.

Hot on the heels of the announcement that major car spare parts retailer Repco will open a second store in the district, today (12 November 2014) it was announced yet more high profile businesses will join the fold.

Director Lindsay Williams confirmed Auckland-based premium meat providers Neat Meat would open a second retail store and wholesale business, while Ed and Bryony Devereux will open Odelay Café.

Well-known local business women Christine and Sharron Holland will also launch Queenstown’s first hair and fashion concept store.

“Our newest tenants showcase the great and varied mix we’re aiming for at The Landing. Each tenant complements the others and brings something new to the table, giving people yet another reason to stop-by,” he said.

“We’ve worked hard to get that balance right and provide the local community with new and exciting stores and services. Neat Meat is one of the country’s leading providers of quality meat, Odelay will offer a unique alpine café style, while the fashion centre will attract a different clientele.”

“We’ve got that great mix of national brands and local names. It’s shaping up nicely.”

Stage One of the development is due to open on December 1 2014 with Stage Two on schedule to open mid April 2015.

Neat Meat director Tim Eriksen said he and brothers Simon and Will, plus adopted- brother and fourth director Andy Ham, were “very confident and excited” to be adding to their business.

“We already source a lot of our meat from the local Otago and Southland region for our Ponsonby operation so this is a natural step for us,” said Tim Eriksen.

Neat Meat offers an impressive retail store and operates in the wholesale market supplying most of Auckland’s and the North Island’s best restaurants and some supermarkets.

“We’re hugely excited. The Landing site is perfectly located for us and we’re confident locals, businesses and visitors will flock to get their weekly meat from us,” he said.

“We’ll employ a team of five including our experienced and friendly butchers who are already excited at the thought of coming to Queenstown.”

“We’ve been in business for over 13 years and are incredibly proud of our stringent food and safety health and hygiene policies and the quality of meat we supply.

“Our maxim is ‘Always be faithful to quality’ –and we’ve stood by this for all 13 of those great years. Now it’s time to move south and showcase what we love to do in Queenstown and surrounding areas,” said Mr Eriksen.

Long-term locals Sharron and Christine Holland are “brimming with joy” at the thought of opening their new hair and fashion concept store.

Sharron, director of award-winning local hair salons Holland and Cutting Edge, will open Cutting Edge Hair at The Landing, alongside sister Christine, who will fulfil her lifelong dream of opening a boutique fashion store in a shared space.

“We’ll be Queenstown’s hair and fashion specialists and the only dedicated fashion and beauty centre in the region. The vibe will be relaxed, informal, fun and welcoming to all – a great spot to come and be pampered, then people can walk straight through to next door and grab a fab new outfit,” said Sharron Holland.

“The Landing presents us with a great opportunity to bring something really unique to Queenstown. It’s taken us 25+ years in town to do it but it’s going to be fantastic.”

Cutting Edge is Queenstown’s largest haircare specialists offering “great hair and great hair care” with more than 10 of the best hair care brands available.

“We’re looking forward to expanding our talented team of hair stylists and colourists to offer our loyal locals and visitors an exceptional experience,” said Sharron.

The pair will hold regular fashion and ladies evenings to showcase the latest trends in fashion and hair, yet they’ve ensured there’s still plenty of space for the gentleman to come and be pampered too.

The fashion store will stock a number of ladies fashion labels such as Wish, Fate, Honey and Beau, Sass, and Evil Twin, all of which are exclusive to them, and jewellery by Jo Jo Varney.

“We’ll offer fashionable and affordable clothing catering for 20-year-olds to ladies in their 60s, so quite a broad market. I’ve already picked the winter 2015 lines and it looks fantastic,” said Christine.

Ex-Dunedin locals Ed and Bryony Devereux will open Odelay Café - an alpine inspired space with 65 indoor seats and 45 outdoor from mid-April.

Nestled into a sheltered north-facing position within the development and boasting superb views, Odelay will trade seven days a week from early morning until late afternoon.

“Our style of food is fresh and simple, guided by seasonal availability and our travels around the world,” said Mr Devereux.

“Locals and visitors to Odelay can expect to see fresh handmade baking, excellent coffee and fresh juice, incredible salads inspired by our on-site raised planter beds, well-designed brunch/lunch options and stunning cabinet food.”

“The interior has been carefully designed with a modern Scandinavian style and a few of our own touches,” he said.

“Above all else it will be a warm and welcoming space which has great indoor/outdoor flow, maximising the sunshine and views and will be a charming place for the little ones to play safely.”

Set on 1.2 hectares, The Landing is Queenstown’s latest retail development and includes 110 car parks, 16 retail units, large green spaces, wide pathways, public seating and toilets and an abundance of bike parks.

The high profile position, opposite the entrance to Remarkables Park Town Centre and adjoining Queenstown Airport, has extremely good traffic movement already.

A limited number of medium to large format retail premises are available from 50 1,000sqm but the manager’s anticipate all leases will be filled by early 2015.
