Dimension Data launches global cloud solution in New Zealand

Auckland, 13 November 2014 – Leading global ICT service and solutions provider Dimension Data will today launch New Zealand’s first global, enterprise-class cloud platform with local support in Auckland.

The company’s Managed Cloud Platform (MCP) will be the 13th to be deployed worldwide, going live in December, and will include public, private and hybrid options.

Bill Padfield, Chief Executive Officer at Dimension Data Asia Pacific, is in Auckland for the launch and says: “Dimension Data has a strong presence in New Zealand, so we’re excited to be investing in a cloud solution that will really support Kiwi organisations.

“International analysts have predicted that more than 50 per cent of enterprise production workloads will be using cloud computing by 2017. Our global platform will provide great opportunities for local enterprise to grow, and the support provided locally by our team on the ground in New Zealand makes our Managed Cloud Platform a unique challenger in the market.”

James Walls, Chief Technology Manager at Dimension Data New Zealand, says the MCP provides a high-performance, easy to use and flexible solution at a competitive price.

“We offer New Zealand companies real cost efficiencies through our global pricing model. We’ve found that most of our clients have changing needs and requirements, so it’s important we have the flexibility to change with them.

“They don’t want to be tied into packages or bundles, so we’ve ensured our Managed Cloud Platform runs as a simple cost per use model where clients pay for what they use and nothing more.”

A key feature of the MCP is the management application, Cloud Control, allowing organisations to spin up their own elastic cloud server and provision any amount of resources needed anytime and from anywhere.

“Our clients can increase, decrease, switch on and switch off their CPU, RAM, and increase or remove storage as they choose, and we only bill them for what is used. Plus, when a server is no longer needed and deleted, the organisation stops paying for it immediately.”

The data centre is located in Kapua, Hamilton and will be live from 4 December 2014. For more information, visit www.dimensiondata.com/nzcloud.
