Vidal Estate Winemaker’s passion pays off
Vidal Estate Winemaker’s passion pays off at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards
Vidal Estate Winemaker Hugh
Crichton is continuing to showcase his unyielding commitment
to excellence by being awarded five Pure Gold Awards at the
iconic Air New Zealand Wine Awards this
year.
Unsurprisingly, Vidal Estate’s Chardonnays
were a firm standout with five Pure Gold medals awarded to
this New Zealand classic, noted by Hugh himself as a ‘Kiwi
love affair’.
“Hawkes Bay produces world class
Chardonnay, which is one of the truly great varieties
producing some of the finest wines of the world. No question
about that. Such recognition at the Air New Zealand Wine
Awards reflects the Hawkes Bays great vineyards, soil and
climate as well as the talented people who make the hundreds
of decision along the path of grape to bottle. This is truly
a
wine Kiwis love.”
Excitingly, the Vidal Legacy Hawkes Bay Chardonnay 2012 was once again on display. After winning the Decanter Asia Wine Award trophy for best New Zealand white wine and the coveted Champion wine of show at the Bragato Wine Awards, its excellence was picked up by the judges and awarded the Pure Gold accolade.
