China’s state visit delivers more movies to entertain and inform a wider audience
In conjunction with China’s President Xi Jinping’s state visit, members of the business delegation have concluded mutually beneficial contracts with local companies. At the forefront is the agreement signed between China Movie Channels of Beijing and Auckland based World Television Ltd.
China Movie Channels (CMC) is one of China’s largest film distributors and will give World Television exclusive access to their huge selection of entertainment and informative content including modern and classic full length features, documentaries, science and educational programs and kids animation. World Television (WTV) are proud to host this content on their TV channels (Freeview and channels on SKY Digital Platform) as well as on their iStars web site.
Managing Director of CMC, Cao Yin, noted at the signing ceremony that New Zealand was now included in their global distribution that includes the United States, Australia and Europe. Mister Yin added, “I hope that this contract, as well as the powerful position and accessible transmission of WTV, will allow a wider audience to develop a friendship between the Chinese people and people of all other countries.” WTV’s chief executive Henry Ho pointed out that this content enhanced the business philosophy of WTV being a public service communications group and that this partnership will provide richer, high quality and varied entertainment for all New Zealand communities.
As mentioned by Prime Minister John Key and President Ji Jinping, and illustrated by this contract, this partnership emphasised the strengthening of relationships between the two countries and the increased development of bilateral cooperation.
