ASB named Bank of the Year in global awards

Diversification and innovation sees ASB named Bank of the Year in global awards

For the second year in a row, ASB has been named the New Zealand Bank of the Year by leading London-based magazine The Banker. The win was announced at the International Bank of the Year awards held in London last night.

The prestigious awards recognise the best banks in countries around the world based on their performance over the past year.

The judges noted ASB’s impressive ability to maintain operational stability while shifting to more digital-focused banking services and venturing into new domestic customer pools.

“We are once again honoured to be named as New Zealand Bank of the Year by The Banker, an award acknowledged internationally as setting the standard for banking excellence,” says ASB Chief Executive Barbara Chapman.

“In today’s highly competitive operating environment, banks are under increasing pressure to evolve rapidly to meet changing customer needs. At ASB, our core strategy has been to focus on doing basics well and maintaining a strong customer service culture.”

“Over the last twelve months we have focused on operational innovation and have worked collaboratively with partners and stakeholders to build a new digital ecosystem, based on a ‘bridges not walls’ approach that is further deepening our capability to meet customer needs more quickly.”

ASB was awarded New Zealand Bank of the Year in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2013.
