Celebrating first birthday with cheeky French knickers and silk slips
Lingerie label Now or Never is turning one, and to celebrate are releasing a new collection of silk underwear. Tender is the Night, the label’s second ever collection, combines modern aesthetics with a nod to the flirty 1930s. It draws inspiration from the book of the same name by author F. Scott Fitzgerald and garments created by co-founder, Olivia Lacey’s grandmother.
The collection’s palette of navy, blush and black silk fabrics is paired with subtle and sexy designs. It keeps comfort in mind while offering a little bit of luxury for every day, and is a must have for lingerie lovers.
“One of my favourites is the Camille French knicker, a loose leg design once known as the ‘tap-pant’, and our take is a little shorter, a little cheekier,” says designer and co-founder Emma Lodge, “Paired with the Camille camisole, it’s a gorgeous set for day or night”.
“The sleek fitting Euphemia silk slip echoes the design lines of Olivia’s grandmother’s garments and is perfect for wearing under summer dresses,” says Lodge.
Lacey says she was delighted that they were able to reference her late grandmother’s work in the new collection.
“Euphemia learned her craft from a Parisian dress maker. She worked from a little studio on Bond Street in London in the early 1930s, where she created and brought her beautiful designs to life,” says Lacey.
“I love to hear stories about Olivia’s grandmother. In a way, she exemplifies what Now or Never is all about; a modern woman - she travelled, studied and pursued her interests,” says Lodge.

Long-time friends Emma Lodge and Olivia
Lacey formed the label Now or Never in 2013. They developed
the initial concepts for the brand by talking to sister
lingerie lovers about what they liked to wear and what made
them feel gorgeous.
Taking these comments onboard and drawing inspiration from favourite fashion eras and a love of silk, the pair came up with designs that combine details from past influences with contemporary styles.
All garments are made in Wellington, New Zealand.
