Annual report indicates steady progress for MOTAT

Annual report indicates steady progress for MOTAT

MOTAT’s 2013/14 annual report is now available to the public and CEO Michael Frawley believes the results demonstrate some positive signs for the future direction of the Museum.

“We have recently launched a 5 year strategy that focuses on building a ‘must experience’ attraction that not only educates people about New Zealand’s transport and technological history but also engages them around our culture of innovation and ingenuity,” says MOTAT CEO Michael Frawley. “Visitor numbers are growing, revenue is slightly up on the previous year and annual pass sales are improving. It is hugely valuable to have positive momentum as we enter into a new stage in the Museum’s life and much of the credit must go to the commitment of our volunteers and staff.”

Some of our proudest achievements from 2012/13 include:

Visitor attendance

249,314 people came through MOTAT’s gates (an increase of 2,000)

Education

• 27,316 school students visited the museum as part of the Ministry of Education’s Learning Experiences Outside the Classroom (LEOTC)’ programme (an increase of more than 3,000 on the previous year)

Annual pass holders

We sold 3,396 MOTAT Mates Annual Passes (an increase of more than 200 on the previous year)
