New Drive Show For ZM

MEDIA RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW DRIVE SHOW FOR ZM

8 DECEMBER 2014 – NMZE. Radio has confirmed its new line-up for their ZM Drive show. Jase Hawkins will join rising star PJ (Polly Harding) who is currently ZM’s Day announcer. Chief Content Officer for NZME. Radio, Gemma Fordham says Hawkins and PJ are a natural fit.

“The most important aspect of any radio team is synergy. This cannot be manufactured and the chemistry these two have, from the moment they first met, is astounding and something I’ve only come across a few times in my career. We knew immediately we were on to something special. “

Hawkins has worked on various top rating radio shows in Australia including Sydney’s 2DayFM and Brisbane’s B105. However he’s had one ear on the New Zealand radio scene and was impressed by what he heard.

“I’m a big fan of Fletch, Vaughan and Megan’s show and have been a regular listener to their podcasts. I loved the changes that were made to ZM and reached out. I met PJ and it felt like I was on an awkward date with my sister. The chick is random as, which I love. When I was asked if I wanted to hang out with her every afternoon, travel around New Zealand and throw massive parties for ZM listeners I couldn’t say no.”

Fordham says Harding has been rising up the ranks at ZM for some time now.

“PJ has a very easy relaxed style and has no concerns having a laugh at herself, which will be a good trait given Jase’s love of pranks and having a laugh. PJ has been developed through the ZM family and we already know the audience loves her.”

Harding caught up with Hawkins in Brisbane while on holiday last month.

“When I met Jase I couldn’t believe how ridiculously good looking the man was, the sexual spark was hard to ignore and when I was offered a ridiculously low wage to be in his presence each afternoon I couldn’t say no. For the record this quote was not written by Jase. In all seriousness I’m so excited to be working with Jase and can’t wait to get started in January.”

Fordham believes the ZM line-up for 2015 is incredibly strong for the key 18-39 demographic.

“We’ve purposefully made ZM younger across the board and our internal research indicates it has been a strong move for us. Our digital stats are through the roof with www.zmonline.com dominating the market and clearly the number one radio website in the country.* ZM listeners listen and engage across all mediums and increasingly online via their phones, tablets and on iHeartRadio.”

PJ and Jase will begin on air 12th January 2015 replacing “Jay and Flynny” (Jay Reeve and Paul Flynn) who remain with NZME. Radio on Radio Hauraki and The Hits respectively.

For NZME. Radio it’s been an exciting year full of change, innovation and trail blazing.

Fordham says 2015 brings more of the shows the audience love. “In addition to this there are also some exciting new shows. Our breakfast shows will now run until 10am on all music brands except for The Hits. We’re stoked with the array of talent we have here at NZME. Radio. Bring on 2015. We’re ready to kick ass!”
