Kennards Celebrates Charity Success

Kennards Celebrates Charity Success

Kennards Hire has wrapped up their annual charity initiative, ‘Kennards For Kids’ with an incredibly successful result. Over the course of the two month campaign Kennards Hire raised over $356,000 for various children’s charities around the country, surpassing last year’s figure by almost 9%.

Throughout September and October, every Kennards Hire branch throughout NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland and New Zealand donated $2 from every hire to a state charity. This year, support is being extended to charities including Stepping Stone House, Kids Xpress, Variety - the Children’s Charity, the Constable Care Foundation and the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Over the 10 years that Kennards Hire has been running Kennards for Kids, this is the best result in their history. All the charities are supporting children, either under-privileged or sick kids or programs that help educate kids on making good life decisions. Kennards have made sure that all the funds raised goes towards kids, not towards running the charity.

Allen Besseling, CEO of Kennards Hire, said that part of the exceptional result this year is due to the uptake of DIY customers looking for their own weekend projects and first time customers. “Many of the current customers are aware of the program and the good work it does,” Besseling stated. “But this year has seen a new crop of customers hiring from Kennards purely to support the efforts of Kennards for Kids.”

Besseling said it is vital that kids are given every chance at success in life and is thrilled with the campaign’s success. “We believe that it’s all about breaking negative cycles early on in a child’s life,” he explained. “We started Kennards for Kids because it allows us to help the youth in our communities realise their potential. It really is the most rewarding part of what we do and see so many people get involved with the cause.”

While Kennards Hire’s main charity drive each year is Kennards for Kids, local branches are involved in a range of independent community based projects, such as school and environmental causes.
