Cabchooze to launch taxi app with John Key’s son

Media Release
December 18, 2014

Cabchooze to launch taxi app with John Key’s son

A soft launch for Cabchooze’s taxi app is happening tonight with the help of local DJs, which include Max Key.

Tonight’s launch will be part of a FREQ Music event at Doolan Brothers in Botany Downs.

FREQ Music caters to young people (typically between 18 and 25) who want a safe night out outside of Auckland’s CBD.

“Young people are really tech savvy, so the Cabchooze app is a great match,” says Dan Hesson, organiser.

This Cabchooze app allows customers to agree on a fixed price before stepping into a licensed taxi. Its algorithm is free from “surge pricing,” and designed to provide customers a safe journey and irresistible low fixed fares on journeys beyond 10kms.

The DJs on the night will be General Lee, Ben Walker of George FM and Troskey, a duo that includes Max Key.

Mr Hesson says that the night won’t be just a bunch of DJs playing their music — FREQ Music nights are interactive. For example, every 20 minutes the DJs will throw paper planes into the audience with $10 taxi vouchers attached.

“We make it easy for kids to attend our events by playing in their backyard, but we still need to get them home safely. Aligning ourselves with a great local taxi service, like Cabchooze, and giving away taxi vouchers is a good way to encourage young people to take a taxi home instead of driving if they’ve been drinking,” says Mr Hesson.

Cabchooze Project Director, BK Sharma, says that Cabchooze has sponsored FREQ Music since they started.
