Ultrafast Fibre connects three more towns

Ultrafast Fibre connects three more towns

Ultrafast Fibre Limited is pleased to join Communications Minister, Amy Adams, to announce today that it has completed building the Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) network in Cambridge, Tokoroa and Hawera.

Business and residential users of these towns will now have the opportunity to connect to UFB through their broadband retail service provider and begin experiencing the benefits of truly high-speed internet.

"We are really excited to have completed the rollout of UFB in these three towns, opening the way for many more New Zealanders to connect and enjoy the ultra-fast fibre broadband experience for themselves," says Ultrafast Fibre CEO, William Hamilton.

"Ultra-Fast Broadband will enhance and in some ways completely change the way people in these towns communicate, work and play online," says Mr Hamilton.
Ultrafast Fibre’s network in Cambridge, Tokoroa and Hawera is 297km long and allows almost 18,000 end users to connect to UFB.

"This is next-generation technology and there is huge demand for UFB, which is fantastic," says Mr Hamilton.

"Our team is working really hard to get as many homes and businesses connected as possible."

The completion of the network build in these towns is part of a wider Government initiative to roll out Ultra-Fast Broadband to 75% of New Zealanders in 33 towns and cities.

Ultrafast Fibre has delivered its high-speed fibre broadband network in less than two and a half years, which it believes will transform the local telecommunications market.

"End users in Cambridge, Tokoroa and Hawera now have access to UFB through a number of providers, including both experienced national players and trusted local businesses," says Mr Hamilton.

Hawera computer company, 4U Computer Solutions, was one of the first businesses in the South Taranaki town to have UFB installed and owners, Susi and Tobi Hipp, say it has changed the way they operate.

"We regularly need to download large software files for our business, and UFB allows us to do this quickly and efficiently with consistent coverage; it’s a vast improvement on ADSL," says Mr Hipp.

"We enjoy the lifestyle of living in a smaller centre and with UFB we can run our business just as well as if we were in a major city."

Mrs Hipp also owns an accounting business and says that UFB ensures she can offer a reliable service to clients.

"Most accounting packages are online, so it is vital to have a reliable internet connection for accounting data, which often sits in the Cloud," she says.

Ultrafast Fibre builds, owns and operates the UFB fibre networks in Te Awamutu, Hamilton, Cambridge, Tauranga, Tokoroa, Whanganui, New Plymouth and Hawera.
