Incident at Devonport Wharf

Auckland, 17 February 2015 – Auckland ferry operator Fullers Group is now working closely with authorities to investigate this morning’s incident at Devonport Wharf.

At 10.40am the commuter ferry Kea, struck the wharf and a number of people, both passengers and crew, sustained injuries and have since received medical attention.

Fullers Group CEO, Doug Hudson says that the safety of passengers and crew is the company’s primary focus.

“Keeping people safe while they travel and work on our vessels is our number one priority, and we are concerned and sorry that people have been hurt today.

“Our thoughts and attention are with passengers and crew who have been injured or affected on our service between Auckland and Devonport.

“Details are still emerging.

“We be conducting our own investigation and working with the Maritime Safety Authority to determine what happened.

“More details will be shared as they come to hand.”

Passenger services between Devonport and Auckland continue as scheduled and are available on the Fullers website: www.fullers.co.nz

About the incident:
• Occurred on the 10.30am service from Downtown Auckland to Devonport
• Vessel was the Kea
• 61 passengers on board and three crew
• 12 people injured (both passengers and crew)
• Ambulance called to treat injured
• Fullers to launch its own investigation and co-operate with authorities
