Golden glow for Villa Maria

Golden glow for Villa Maria as 2015 Royal Easter Wine Show results released

Villa Maria Estate picked up five gold medals at this year’s Royal Easter Show Wine awards. The show is New Zealand’s oldest and longest running national wine competition with 1,222 wines entered into its 62nd season.

In its 53rd year, Villa Maria can attribute its award winning beginnings to the Royal Easter Show Wine Awards where it won its first medal in 1962. Now, over 35 years later, Villa Maria remains committed to being New Zealand’s most awarded winery, picking up an award at the Royal Easter Show Wine Awards every year since.

Founder and CEO, Sir George Fistonich, said these results “really showcased the quality of our Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. What was especially pleasing was the gold medal awarded to our Cellar Selection Chardonnay, a very approachable wine and consistently awarded.”

This is the 62nd Royal Easter Show with 1,222 wines entered into this year’s competition. The Easter Show Wine Awards 2015 dinner, where the trophies are announced, will be held on the 14th of March.
