Emirates: Flying Daily with epic Middle Earth screenings

Emirates: Flying Daily with epic Middle Earth screenings

Starting this month, on one of Emirates’ four daily New Zealand flights to Dubai and beyond you can immerse yourself for as much as 17 hours in JRR Tolkien’s fantasy world of Middle Earth by exploring channels 250 to 255 on the airline’s award-winning ice Digital Widescreen.

Fans of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit series can sit back, and look forward to watching every film in the epic, cinematic spectacle created by multi-award winning director Sir Peter Jackson. Now, Emirates customers on the airline’s global network can follow the adventures of Bilbo Baggins and Frodo in the complete The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit series on ice Digital Widescreen, over the span of 17 epic hours - equivalent to the airline’s non-stop flight from Dubai to Los Angeles.

This series is another example of the rich content that customers can enjoy on their Emirates flights. In the past, ice Digital Widescreen has also shown the complete Harry Potter series, and fans of World Cinema can enjoy the famous French ‘Three Colours trilogy’ – Blue, White and Red by famed director Krzysztof Kieslowski, also launching in April.

With more than 500 films in over 35 languages to choose from, customers from New Zealand and elsewhere can check what’s showing on board their flight and plan their ice movie marathon before they fly by visiting emirates.com.

In 2014, ice Digital Widescreen was awarded the ‘World's Best Airline Inflight Entertainment’ award at the SKYTRAX World Airline Awards for the 10th consecutive year.
