Steve Donohue appointed Managing Director

Steve Donohue appointed Managing Director

Progressive Enterprises today announced Steve Donohue has been appointed Managing Director, based in Auckland.

Mr Donohue will lead more than 18,000 Countdown staff across 174 supermarkets throughout New Zealand.

Prior to this appointment, Mr Donohue was General Manager, Merchandise and was announced as the acting Managing Director of Progressive Enterprises following Dave Chambers’ move to Australia as Director of Woolworths Supermarkets.

Mr Donohue says he is looking forward to leading the Progressive Enterprises team.

“Retail is a dynamic business and leading our great team to serve two million customers each week is hugely exciting. I’m a retailer with 20 years experience and I’m looking forward to the challenges this new role will bring.”

Woolworths Limited CEO, Grant O’Brien, said; “Steve is a talented retailer with good experience in the Progressive Enterprises business. He is customer focused and is the right person to lead Countdown. I wish him well in his new role.”

Mr Donohue has worked in a number of buying and marketing roles with Woolworths Limited over the last 20 years. Mr Donohue is married with three children and lives in Mt Eden, Auckland.

The process to appoint a General Manager, Merchandise will commence shortly.
