Deosan appoints globetrotting chair

Up-and-coming Waikato-based dairy consumables company Deosan NZ has appointed Colin Groves as chairman of its board.

Groves worked for Tetra Laval Group for 23 years, mostly as director of mergers and acquisitions. The Sweden-based Tetra Laval Group is the world’s largest private company and the global leader in liquid food processing and packaging equipment. It is the parent company of DeLaval, a world leader in farming machinery and consumables.

Groves’ roles took him around the globe before he and his family emigrated to New Zealand from the UK five years ago. Before Tetra Laval he worked for Informix Software and the United States-based healthcare multinational, Johnson & Johnson.

Groves said Deosan and its associated companies had built a powerful “under the radar” presence in New Zealand and were now poised to go off shore. The company produces TeatX, New Zealand's market-leading teat spray, along with a dairy detergent and liquid mineral supplement range.

“Deosan is in a strong position to take advantage of the rapidly evolving global dairy, chemical, feeds and fertiliser markets. This is an exciting and innovative organisation with huge promise and it’s a very exciting time to be coming on board.”

Groves joins the company’s owners Kip Bodle and Kim Willoughby on the Deosan board.

In November Groves, a qualified accountant and former international rugby player, was appointed Chairman of New Zealand’s largest APP company, based in Hamilton, MEA Mobile.

He is the new Chair of the NZX listed Seadragon and is on the Board of Waikato Rugby.
