Vector Network News

Network summary for week ending 10 May 2015

Electricity

Our crews were kept busy in Auckland’s CBD during the week, with power isolations carried out to three of four building fires there. An isolation of power was not needed at the fourth fire.

Crews attended five car v poles during the week in Whenuapai, Flat Bush, Manukau, New Lynn and Mangere.

Lines were rehung in Mt Roskill. Emergency services advised of a second case of lines down in Mt Roskill during the week, but Vector was stood down from this incident.

Gas

Third party contractors struck Vector’s gas assets in Milford and Rotorua during the week. Crews were on site quickly to make repairs.

Projects

Vector is working alongside the NZTA on the upgrade of the Albany Highway in Auckland. This project will improve a vital section of road that links SHW18 to SHW1. Vector’s assets are positioned on the highway alongside Days Bridge and these will be relocated when this bridge is rebuilt.

This is an accelerated programme of works, with the project due for completion in two years’ time.

Shorts

• Vector owns over 18,000 kilometres of overhead and underground lines in the greater Auckland area, and 12,752 of gas pipe lines, almost half of which supply gas to Auckland.

• Vector, proud sponsor of the Arena.
