EV Charger

The free public EV charger at 101 Carlton Gore Road continues to be well received with some EV’s having to wait for a charge time. Vector offers a free coffee to those wanting to get a charge for their EV (just check in with reception) and also a prize pack will be up for grabs for the 100th EV to plug in.

Network summary for week ending 24 May 2015

Electricity

Vector’s assets were largely intact during the week after several car v pole incidents. These occurred in Manurewa Central, Westmere, Ellerslie, Kohimarama, Clover Park, Kumeu, East Tamaki and Taupaki, with just one pole replacement needed, at the Manurewa Central incident.

Emergency services advised us of house/building fires in Penrose, Otara, Orakei, Lynfield North and Kingsland during the week. Our field crews isolated power as necessary.

Gas

Our gas crews were kept busy during the week attending to several cases of third party damage. These events took place in Northcote, Milford, Taupo, Manukau, Hamilton East and Takapuna.

Projects

New communications devices have been commissioned at Vector’s Carbine Road substation. These ‘remote telemetry units’ feed information back to our control room, enabling the effective monitoring and control of our electricity network. Similar upgrades are also under way at the McNab St substation in Penrose, with Pakuranga, Howick and South Howick substations due for their turn shortly.
