Hunters Plaza gets ready to wow

Hunters Plaza gets ready to wow

Hunters Plaza first opened in Papatoetoe in 1991, and almost 25 years later it is still a vital part of the Papatoetoe community, a multi-million dollar investment in redeveloping Hunters Plaza will see the Centre transformed into to a more vibrant local shopping destination.

Following the addition of national retailer, Number One Shoes in April and several new food court and apparel retailers in 2014, Countdown Hunters Plaza is going through a complete refurbishment, so fresh food and grocery shopping will become a whole lot easier at Papatoetoe. The refurbishment scheduled for completion in September will showcase the latest Countdown format with new flooring, checkouts, fixtures, and lighting as well as a new fresh fruit and vegetable department, Bakery, Deli and Butcher.

Upon completion, a second travelator will provide greater convenience for shoppers with improved access from the undercover carpark to the mall space in front Countdown. The centre will be given a fresh new look with new tiling throughout and new look Lotto outlet which will create a brighter more modern feeling shopping environment. This, in addition to Kmart Hunters Plaza being refurbished in 2014, cements the commitment of these strong retailers to the Papatoetoe community.

“We are fully committed to delivering a fresh and convenient shopping experience for the Papatoetoe Community. The new format Countdown store with a direct travelator connection to the undercover carpark will be the best option for shopping in all types of weather” said Development Manager, Phillip Knackstedt.

This exciting project is due for completion late 2015 and the Centre will continue to trade as normal throughout the works.
