Coastlands Attracts Another National Retail Chain

Coastlands Attracts Another National Retail Chain

With the recent announcement that a major food court expansion is underway, Coastlands has confirmed they have secured a new high profile tenant, with New Zealand’s largest specialist lighting retailer expected to open its doors on 13 July.

Lighting Plus, New Zealand’s largest specialist lighting retailer, has confirmed they are coming to Kapiti, with Coastlands shopping centre chosen as the location for their 29th store.

The new store will occupy the former Toyworld site which was vacated in December last year. Preliminary work is underway to prepare the site for the fit out, which will begin on 15 June, with the store set to open for business on 13 July.

The lighting retailer, which is 100% New Zealand owned, has been planning its entry into the Kapiti market for some time. “The Kapiti Coast is a region that has been undergoing tremendous growth and development for quite some time now,” says Dave Barlow, Group General Manager for Lighting Plus.

“And with this growth expected to continue, we recognised there was an excellent business opportunity to bring our brand of advice and service and wide range of quality lighting products to the region.”

The company considered a numbers of alternatives for its Kapiti store before finally choosing the Coastlands location.

“The Coastlands site is perfect for us,” explains Dave Barlow. “It’s the Kapiti Coast’s premier shopping centre with high traffic volumes and a large number of well known retail brands. Our new site is in a great location, positioned next to some other key retail stores and offering good visibility from a number of directions.”

“We can’t wait to have the fit out completed so we can open our doors to the public.”

Coastlands Chief Executive, Richard Mansell says the arrival of Lighting Plus will add a completely new and exciting option to the shopping centre’s retail offering. “We’re thrilled to welcome Lighting Plus and their excellent range of lighting products and service to the people of Kapiti.”

“We appreciate that Lighting Plus had a number of local options available to them, and we’re delighted that they chose Coastlands to be their home,” he says.

Mr Mansell says that further changes are expected at Coastlands over the coming months. “The current foodcourt expansion and the pending arrival of Lighting Plus are just the start of a busy period for our shopping centre,” he explains. “We should be in a position to make another significant announcement in the next week or two.”
