Emirates and Flybe announce codeshare on 25 UK routes

Emirates has announced a new codeshare agreement with Exeter-based Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, which is set to open up new destinations for Flybe and Emirates passengers across the UK.

The new agreement will see Emirates’ code added to 25 Flybe routes across the UK (subject to regulatory approval), adding a total of 13 new destinations to the Emirates global network and seamlessly connecting customers to new points such as Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey and Newquay.

All Flybe flights will seamlessly connect with Emirates flights to and from Dubai and beyond, including New Zealand services, at Emirates’ Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham gateways. The partnership will connect international passengers to regions across the UK on a single ticket.

Emirates and Flybe are currently targeting a July launch for the new codeshare.

Thierry Antinori, Emirates’ Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, said: "Our new codeshare agreement with Flybe will provide our passengers with increased choice, flexibility and ease of connection to different cities within the UK to and from Dubai, ultimately offering a smoother, more convenient travel experience.”

Emirates already offers 16 daily services in each direction between the UK and Dubai with another daily service to and from Birmingham from the beginning of August. All four of Emirates’ daily New Zealand services provide direct connections at Dubai with Emirates flights to Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow.

“Together with Flybe, we are taking more people to more places and opening up new UK destinations to people around the world. It’s an important partnership as we continue to expand the destinations available to Emirates' passengers,” said Thierry Antinori.

Paul Simmons, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “This new codeshare agreement with Emirates is yet another important milestone and an exciting development in the continued growth of Flybe. It allows us to give our UK customers a ‘One Stop to the World’ option with convenient, seamless access to Dubai and onwards to the rest of the world through our extensive regional route network, direct from their local airport.”

Flybe operates more than 180 routes to 72 European airports. Emirates customers travelling on Flybe will enjoy the same generous luggage allowance they are entitled to on Emirates checked through to their final destination – 30kg for economy class, 40kg for business class and 50kg for first class. All Emirates’ passengers on Flybe flights will receive boarding passes on check-in at their first international departure point for connecting international services.

Emirates currently has codeshare agreements in place with 14 partners around the world including Qantas, Jetstar and Jet Blue among others.
