OMF accredited as trading & advising and clearing derivatives market participant

NZX is pleased to announce that OM Financial Limited (OMF) has been accredited as a Trading & Advising Participant and also a General Clearing Participant for the NZX Derivatives Market

Since 2010, OMF has been an NZX Derivatives Advising Participant and has played an important role in the development of the NZX Global Dairy Derivatives Market. The commitment by OMF to upgrade its NZX accreditation status illustrates the growth and potential of the equity
and dairy derivative markets.

OMF Managing Director Brian Watt commented: “Being locally owned and operated, OMF is a strong supporter of the New Zealand Inc story and what NZX is trying to achieve in developing a balanced and sophisticated financial market in New Zealand with products that appeal to sectors important to the New Zealand economy. We have actively been involved in recent successes seen in the dairy derivatives market and are confident that equity derivatives will be a huge success also. We are thrilled to be able to offer another dimension to the trading services on offer to our clients.”

NZX CEO Tim Bennett commented: “2014 was a fantastic year for the derivatives market with volumes in excess of 100,000 contracts traded and 2015 is delivering further rapid growth of more than 150%. As NZX looks to broaden its product offering and increase liquidity in existing
products it is encouraging to see local firms such as OMF put their support behind our market.”

OMF will be offering Trading, Advising and Clearing services in respect of all NZX Derivatives products.
