A Taco Truck in your kitchen

A Taco Truck in your kitchen

From humble Taco Truck to global Mexican super brand. Well, with your help.

For the past eight months, the talented duo from one of New Zealand’s most successful food trucks - The Lucky Taco - has been working behind the scenes on a KickStarter campaign in a bid to raise $100,000 for their latest venture.

Launched today (July 6) by Sarah and Otis Frizzell, the pair hopes to manufacture and produce two Lucky Taco Kits for retail - Sizzlin’ Steak & Chipotle Chicken - plus two Mexican pickles, Pink Pickle & Exciting Carrots - so everyone can enjoy Lucky Tacos at home, nationwide.

If the entrepreneurial love birds hit their target of $100,000 Sarah Frizzell says it will be one the most successful rewards-based crowd funding campaigns in New Zealand.

“We’re offering our backers the chance to be the first in the world to get their hands on one of our tasty taco kits – to tell us what they think – to be part of the journey.”

They’re not asking for money for nothing. They want to create ambassadors for the brand.

“People can pledge as little as $5 and receive a DIY mini Lucky Taco Truck and a personal thank you email. If you front up with $5,000 you get the full Lucky Taco Experience at your home. Plus there are plenty of great rewards in between to suit any budget. There are Super Earlybird deals if you get in quick.”

The Frizzells say their products are ready to go - tried, tested and loved for the past two years at The Lucky Taco truck.

“Our customers have always been the reason for creating our products. We’re constantly being asked for our recipes – salsas, pickles and marinades. Our Lucky Taco kits give our customers everything they need in one box.”

With distribution in place, all Sarah and Otis need is backing from the public to get started. To get on board, check their Facebook page for the launch of the campaign on July 6: https://www.facebook.com/theluckytaconz.

About The Lucky Taco

The Lucky Taco is the spicy brainchild of husband and wife team, Sarah & Otis Frizzell. Besotted with tacos and after a love affair with food trucks during their honeymoon to LA in 2011, the pair set about to give keen New Zealanders a taste of the real deal - fresh, tasty and authentic soft shell tacos, served from a glittering, shiny taco truck. The Frizzells have gone from strength to strength. Customers happily queue for more than half an hour for their Lucky Taco fix at the weekends. Now part of the Ponsonby (Auckland) landscape, The Lucky Taco transforms a quiet car-park into a bustling colourful street food fiesta.

Sarah & Otis have recently launched a range of hot sauce - complimentary to the tacos they serve fresh from the truck. The iconic, colourful, medicine style bottles of Lucky Taco hot sauce have become so popular they're now stocked in more than 60 outlets nationwide. But that’s not all. The formidable duo have recently launched a Chilli Lime Salt to the lineup. Even hotter on the heels, is a Mexican Chilli Chocolate Milk (enjoyed hot or ice-cold) - another #brandmance project with Tommy & James from Little Island Coconut Creamery.

In the past two years, this award winning taco truck has made more than 100,000 tacos for an eager and ever increasing taco-loving population. The demand became so great, Sarah and Otis re-mortgaged their house and converted their garage into a fully functioning commercial kitchen - The Lucky Taco HQ.

The couple’s dreams and aspirations just keep on growing.
