Novotel Gets Queenstown Frozen and raises over $30,000

Novotel Gets Queenstown Frozen and raises over $30,000 for Cure Kids and Queenstown Primary School

Novotel Queenstown Lakeside held their eighth annual Cure Kids Fundraiser on Friday 24 July 2015, raising over $28,000 for Cure Kids and $5,000 for Queenstown Primary School.

The event’s ‘Frozen’ theme was inspired by the arctic winter that Queenstown has been experiencing, as well as the latest Disney movie Frozen - prompting local companies to donate suitably themed prizes, including skis from Kiwi Discovery, a NZ Ski Snow grooming experience and an ‘Escape the freeze’ 6-night holiday for two people to Thailand flying Emirates Airline and staying at Pullman Hotels in Bangkok and Phuket.

The annual fundraiser attracted support from over 300 locals from 35 businesses for an entertaining evening of games, silent auctions and food donated by Winnies, Novotel and Cup and Cake. While the quiz night bragging rights was won by the Destination Queenstown team.

Novotel General Manager Jim Moore was delighted with the community response to the evening saying, “the local community has once again come together to support these two very worthwhile causes.

“Over the last eight years our quiz night event has raised over $180,000 and just keeps getting better and more popular with each year. Over 20 volunteers, countless offers of sponsorship and prizes from local and international businesses have ensured we can make a significant impact on the lives of many local children and those supported by Cure Kids,” said Jim.

Novotel Queenstown’s fundraising efforts for Cure Kids have not ended with the hotel sending two teams to compete in the Cure Kids $10 Challenge in October as well as supporting the annual Red Nose Day appeal in August.
